Vocational Skills Pathway

Building Skills & Confidence

Teamwork Trust has always been a place where people take part in meaningful vocational activity. Many of our members join us with aspirations to work, volunteer, or simply build skills and structure into their day. While our service has evolved to provide more specialist support for people with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health conditions, supporting vocational development remains a core part of our identity.

With the introduction of our Social Enterprise, we’ve strengthened our ability to support individuals from initial referral through to work or volunteering – where that’s the right role for them. Each journey looks different with a bespoke plan incorporating all the support they need to make steps towards this goal at their own pace.

Finding the Right Fit

Our full-time Vocational Lead works alongside our centre staff to help members explore and access the right opportunities. This could be internal enterprise projects, external work experience, volunteering roles or tailored skills development.

While we have strong partnerships with local employers and voluntary organisations across Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough, we also source bespoke placements based on individual interests — such as placements with the RSPCA or local cafés.

Some members arrive with a clear goal to move into employment. Others begin by simply exploring what might be possible. Every route is valid, and we ensure people can move at their own pace, with the right support.

Meaningful Outcomes

We recognise that paid work or volunteering isn’t the goal for everyone. For some, vocational sessions offer a sense of structure, confidence, and purpose — which are just as valuable. The vocational pathway sits alongside a wider offer of activities and support, and no matter what someone’s goals are, we ensure they are engaged, encouraged, and included.

We are proud to offer a pathway that remains open, aspirational and co-produced, shaped around the ambitions of the people who use our service. By working closely with members and local partners, we continue to open up real opportunities, both within and beyond Teamwork Trust.
